Day 28 – Berry Breakfast

Berries!

Berries and cherries and a couple apples for good measure!

Time for breakfast.Yes, I said we aren’t going to do food styling and yes, there is food here : )

More importantly, there is BREAKFAST here!

Time for berries and oatmeal and cream : )

We’re planning on some oatmeal with fresh blackberries, goat cheese covered in blueberries with a baguette and just because that’s not enough, some of THE BEST raspberry jam pocket cookies from our local bakery, Walnut Creek Baking Company.

I pulled out my gorgeous white ceramic ‘cake’ stand from April Cornell which just happens to be an Italian design. I found the cups and saucers and plate the cheese is on at Salvation Army. I loved the raised design and the simplicity of the white on white but when it came to putting the table together it begged for something red – enter the red Fiesta bowls : ) They were followed quickly by the red bakelite silverware and the vintage napkins.

This is actually one of my all-time favorite tableclothes, it was about the third one I ever bought. It’s been so used and loved that its is starting to develop holes so I have to use it sparingly : ) It’s like an old friend that you don’t see very often but when you do you remember why you  liked them in the first place and appreciate them all the more.

Cookies….

Tea is brewing in the Fiesta teapot, oatmeal is bubbling on the stove…

Blackberries wating for their cream

And just because good things come in small boxes -

Yummy!

This small local business seriously makes some of the best baked goods. A few years ago, when my husband was undergoing chemo and radiation I used to go down to the farmers market on Sunday mornings for fruit and veggies and then hit this amazing place for a couple of cookies. Saved my sanity those little treats did… They make everything on site and fresh daily. If you’re in the area stop by and drool over the cases of goodies : )

Tomorrow -Red gingham and blue violets

338 days to go!!
